Handling Suggestions
- Upon product arrival, store at 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius).
- Before use, the outer sheath of the stem portion must be removed by slicing lengthwise with a knife and removing the heart section in the center. Discard the sheath.
- Edible portions are the young leaves at the top, the actual heart inside the stem, and the large base portion can be used in a similar fashion to bamboo shoots and does not require pre-boiling. The Firm and crispy texture is retained. All Portions are delicious raw, lightly cooked or marinated.
- Each section has different sensory characteristics, especially texture and appearance. Therfore, each section can be used in different ways that will appeal to differentl culinary traditions.
- Unused portion should be wrapped in plastic and may be stored under refrigeration for up to two weeks.
